Who Dropify is for, and who it isn't
The stores we're built for, the problems we solve, and the three things we do best — so you can tell in two minutes whether we fit.
Evaluating software usually takes a fortnight of demos before finding the missing feature that was always a dealbreaker. This page replaces that with two minutes of reading.
Here is who we are built for, who we are not, and what we do best.
Built for stores that sell out
Sneakers and streetwear. Vinyl and music merch. Trading cards and collectibles. Limited-run food and drink. Artist drops, event merchandise. Anything where the interesting number is 500 units, not 500,000 visitors.
The common shape:
- Scarce stock. Your problem is allocation — who gets the thing — not just how many people can load the page.
- Spiky traffic. Quiet for three weeks, then a cliff at noon on Friday. You shouldn’t have to buy enterprise infrastructure for one hour a month.
- Bots are already a problem. You’ve watched a drop go to resellers and reappear on a resale site within the hour.
- Your customers talk to each other. Drop audiences are communities, and a drop they believe was rigged costs you more than the drop itself.
- You run this yourself. Founder, ecommerce manager, or agency — no ops team required, and none needed.
We’re deepest on WooCommerce, where the product goes all the way to order-level enforcement.
Not built for (today)
- Shopify stores. We do not have a Shopify integration today. Shopify support is in development — if you are on Shopify, tell us and we will let you know the moment it is ready.
- Contractual uptime SLAs with financial remedies. Queue-it sells these; we do not, and we will not imply otherwise.
- Priority lists and invite codes. Single-use early-access codes or VIP groups that jump the queue are not in the product today. If that is central to your drop, tell us what you need and we will give you a straight answer about our roadmap.
Also built for: stores that struggle under load
Scarce stock is our sharpest use, but not the only one. If your store goes down under Black Friday traffic, a campaign spike, or a viral mention, run the waiting room continuously as a throttle: you decide how many people per minute reach the store, and everyone else waits in a room that — with our edge connector — never touches your server at all.
The capacity you have goes entirely to shoppers who are actually shopping. It is often the fastest and cheapest way to make a struggling setup stable, without changing your hosting.
The three things we do best
- You set the admission rate — no floor, no cap. How fast people are let in is the number that decides whether a drop works, and most vendors either cap it or hide it. Ours is a dial with nothing at either end, identical on the €99 plan and on Enterprise, adjustable live while the drop runs.
- The presale draw. Register any time during the presale window; positions are assigned at random when the drop opens. Being first to register wins nothing, so there’s nothing for a bot to gain by being fast. (The everyday queue is first-come, first-served — the draw is a mode you switch on for a drop.)
- One admission, one order. Our WooCommerce plugin ties each admission to an order and only considers it spent when payment actually confirms — so bank verification steps and retried payments work, but one person can’t check out twice on the same admission. Nobody else ships this as a ready-made WooCommerce feature.
Underneath all three: bot defense (human check, proof-of-work, datacenter IP escalation) is standard on every plan, both connectors are open source, and if we ever go offline your store keeps selling.
The two-minute test
Does your drop fail because the site fell over, or because the wrong people got the stock?
- If it’s the stock: that’s exactly what we built this for — start with the admission rate and the presale draw.
- If it’s the site: run the queue as a throttle and put the edge connector in front, so the people waiting are no longer part of the load.
- If it’s both — and for a scarce drop it usually is — it’s the same dial, set once.
Not sure which you’ve got? Describe your last bad drop to hello@dropify.dev and we’ll tell you honestly whether we fit.
